Global recession has also hit SONY hard. Sony recorded a loss of about $1 billion or 98.9 bn Yen in the year 2009 through March and it has been the biggest loss since 14 years caused by slumping sales and lack of consumer confidence. A big loss just after a profit year of 369.4 bn Yen and sony does not expect a recovery and will face more loss of $1.2 bn till 2010.
It is working to eliminate around 8000 jobs at the end of the year to avoid loss.Like other companies its buisness has been hurt strongly.Company saw a sales drop in every segment, Electronic's were down by 17%, Music got down by 16% , Mobiles by 19% and Gaming by 18% which affected PS3 and PSP sales this year.
